Accounting Manager

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal controls. This role manages accounting staff, supports month-end and year-end close processes, and partners with leadership to provide timely financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (or applicable standards)
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies and procedures
• Coordinate audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; conduct performance reviews
• Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax, sales/use tax, and regulatory requirements
• Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership on financial initiatives and process improvements
• Support system implementations, upgrades, and accounting automation efforts

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including people management
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with accounting systems/ERPs and advanced Excel skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA certification
• Public accounting experience
• Experience in [industry, e.g., SaaS, manufacturing, healthcare, etc.]
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
